For things to do, The Ship Inn was recommended as somewhere to eat.. That is okay for lunchtime’s. But not for evening meal as fully booked all week. We would recommend that it is advisable to book ahead of your holiday to try and secure a table.

Overall the cottage is excellent, but with having two young children we struggled without a washing machine.. The location is perfect and would definitely book again if it had one.

Northumberland has so many beautiful and fascinating places to visit.. We have been coming for years, but had not been recently - this visit re-kindled our enthusiasm. The cottage is ideally sited for walks and car journeys north and south. The coast is beautiful and towns, harbours, castles, gardens are all within easy reach. Both Sykes and the owner made sure we felt taken care of. The cottage is clean and well-presented and has stunning sea views along Embleton Bay to Dunstanburgh Castle. We love it here. (Clothes storage/hanging is a challenge, but the advantages of this lovely site outweigh any inconveniences.)

We loved the cottage and its beautiful location and views.. The village and the Ship Inn were full of character. I was very excited to find how good the immediate area was for bird watching, which is my special interest. It had not been mentioned in the description of the property! The location was also very central for exploring Northumbria.

Proximity to a very picturesque part of the coast - it was peaceful and quiet, with excellent views of the beach and sea. Within easy reach by car of a number of local attractions including Farne Islands, Bamburgh and Alnwick.

This was a lovely cottage with wonderful views across the sea to Dunstanburgh Castle. It was easy to walk from along the coast both ways, and easy car distance from Holy Island etc. It has a very impressive pub-restaurant for such a tiny village, and walking distance from another family-friendly pub. It is comfortable and well-equipped and we had a great stay

The setting was lovely, quiet village with long sea views. The cottage was small but perfect for us, cosy and warm for an autumn booking. Immediate access to great coastal walks is a big asset. Watching the sunrise over the sea near Dunstanburgh Castle was worth coming for on its own! The excellent pub/restaurant in the village was fully booked when we wanted to go, not even room to sit down for a drink, you need to book in advance!
