2 Eden Grove Cottages Pet-Friendly Cottage Self-Catering

Holiday home
As part of a conversion of a former stable block this property is an attractive, mid terrace house situated on a quiet lane in the centre of Armathwaite. The cottage has been lovingly restored and decorated to a high standard throughout, in order to provide warm welcoming accommodation. The quality furnishings and minimal, elegant styling complement the period features of the property, including original beams, exposed sandstone walls and a wood burning stove. The village of Armathwaite itself provides an array of interesting walks and the essential amenities of a shop and two village pubs. Other activities throughout the area are within easy driving distance too.

Area
Ideally placed for exploring the Lake District, Eden Valley and the lovely coastline of the Solway Firth, Armathwaite is an attractive, unspoiled rural village. This charming settlement has two old pubs - both with popular restaurants - a post office and a traditional village shop. The River Eden runs through the centre of the village itself whilst the surrounding area is renowned for its excellent salmon fishing, walking, canoeing and climbing. The impressive Armathwaite Castle is a four-storey Pele Tower, and the 15th Century Church provides fine examples of stained glass windows. The Eden Gorge, situated between Lazonby and Armathwaite, is amongst Cumbria's best-kept secrets making it a quiet day out away from the tourists. Penrith hosts the Rheged Discovery Centre which gives visitors a chance to see the largest grass covered building in the country whilst Dalemain Historic House - featured in a television production of Jane Eyre – is also within easy driving distance.

Region
Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

Amenities
User-friendly central heating & hot water with woodburner in sitting room. Electric double oven with grill, halogen hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher, TV, DVD, radio/CD player, WiFi, small library of books/games. Fuel, power & starter pack for woodburner inc. in rent. Bed linen & towels inc. in rent. Highchair & stairgate available. Roadside parking. Small patio area in shared courtyard with furniture. Location, within walking distance to local amenities.. Penrith and Carlisle not far away. Cottage was homely and set in a quiet part of Armathwaite. Hidden gem.

The owner was very helpful and gave a few recommendations for the area.. Much appreciated.Thank you Rachel. This property is well situated in a quiet village not far for to go the lakes, the Dales or Scotland. It is very well equipped for 6 people, cosy and comfortable. Locals and neighbours very friendly, felt like home from home.

Everything about the cottage was as listed, but it was the little things like toilet rolls , washing up liquid, a packet of biscuits, teabags that made the difference.. Also I spoke to the owner before we left and she was so helpful and friendly. It's a lovely comfy cottage where you can relax and feel at home.

6 of us stayed here this week. The cottage is fully equipped and full of atmosphere. A large kitchen, lounge, shower room and a utility room downstairs, and 3 double bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. Access is up a steep little hill and then through a tiny shared yard. It's very quaint, but gave me some problems as I have walking difficulties.

Really enjoying our spring stays in The Eden Valley and would not look using this place as our base. The house is clean quirky and comfortable and the host is really easy to deal with. Armathwaite has two great pubs and lots of walks without needing to get into the car, The Lake district is only a 45 mins drive away. Can't wait till next Spring.

We loved the inside of the cottage and the facilities were great.. The very small courtyard is shared with three other cottages and is not suitable for a larger dog or for having a BBQ. Also access to the cottage is via a small gate and you can’t park the car near to the entrance - not good in bad weather!

Lovely well equipped cottage that is a very good base for Cumbria, Yorkshire and Scotland. The village is very friendly, great local shop that sells everything and a post Office where you can withdraw cash. There are two very good dog friendly pubs in the village which are a short walk from the cottage. There are also some lovely walks for the walkers. 10/10 all round.

Beautiful cottage set in the lovely village of Armathwaite.. We spent our Golden wedding anniversary with the family . It's spacious, well equipped with 2 bathrooms and 3 toilets. Spotlessly clean and hope to stay again. Thank you Rachel for making us so welcome!

A really well equipped cottage, the owners have thought of everything you could need when not in your own home for a week.. The village is quiet, in a beautiful setting with the river Eden only 5 minutes away. Our two dogs settled in quickly and enjoyed the local footpaths. The village shop is very useful and friendly as are the two pubs.

We stayed here for our wedding in Armathwaite.. It is a lovely cottage in the perfect location. It is very well kitted out and Rachel made sure we were well looked after! For us in particular, we would have liked to have more storage space and wardrobe space, but that's because we had a lot of wedding things! Also, be careful about parking off street, unfortunately someone keyed one of our cars while we were there. This is of course not a reflection on the excellent cottage and host herself.

Lovely, well equipped cottage in the beautiful village of Armathwaite. We visited for my birthday Fri - Mon. Everything we needed was there. Even a complimentary pint of milk! 6 of us stayed for 3 nights but wished we could have stayed longer! Bedrooms were abit of a squeeze .. 3 bedrooms all 3 with double beds, 1 huge bath (great for a bubble bath after a long walk!), 3 toilets so with 6 adults there was no arguing for the bathroom! Neighbours and locals were very friendly and often came over whilst we were in the pubs to chat to us. The village Post Office is open 7 days a week (reasonable prices too!) 2 pubs within walking distance, both dog friendly.. the Dukes Head wins out of the two I must say! Overall, we all said we would definitely return to the delightful Eden Grove cottage! Thank you Rachel! :)

Lovely location, the cottage has everything that you could possibly need. The village has two lovely pubs that serves food, has log fires and friendly staff. There is a village shop / post office that sells pretty much everything you would need. Also we were delighted to find that the village pubs are both dog friendly. All in all a fantastic Christmas stay. Would most definitely recommend.

I booked this on the last minute for a surprise family weekend to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday, but it turned out to be the perfect place. Spacious, extremely well-appointed, very clean, and full of character. The cottage is situated in a small courtyard with very friendly neighbours, and good on-road parking. The pre-stay information and instructions from Rachel, the owner, were detailed and helpful. Armathwaite is a lovely village with two nice pubs and a shop just a short walk away, and is well situated for exploring the surrounding area. We'd definitely stay again.

Second visit in 2 years to this wonderful part of Cumbria and I very much doubt it will be our last. Rachel, the owner was very easy to deal with and answers all enquiries promptly and without pressure. We were able to tag on a couple of days extra which was very much appreciated. It has a large kitchen diner, a large sitting room and three good sized double bedrooms. The 2 pubs and the River Eden are all under 1/4 mile away. Fantastic walks from the village or only 30 mins drive from The Lake District. The village is also a stop on the historic Carlisle to Settle railway. Can't wait to return.

Lovely cottage in the middle of the village. Local, pubs (2) within a very short stroll and village shop had everything we needed for the week. Cottage very well equipped for self catering week. Cold on arrival but warmed up once the log fire lit. We even entertained our friends one evening in style. Beds comfy and bedrooms cosy. Took the train to Settle for the day and that was an amazing trip. Great scenery and lots to see in Settle. Worth doing.

Where do I start! The whole holiday was fantastic, even when it rained I loved the sound of rain on the roof whilst we were so warm and comfortable in bed at night. The kitchen and bathrooms were well equipped, as was the store house for the logs for the fire, although we only used it once as the house was warm and cosy enough! The TV/DVD was good although the height of it in our humble opinion warranted it being a little larger screen than it was but that, if any, is the only tiny thing we would have changed, everything else was fantastic! Thank you to the owners for your fabulous attention to detail! We hope to return again! It was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. Many many thanks again! See you again, if you'll have us!

My Fiance and I stayed in the cottage for 4 nights prior to getting married in Gretna Green in March. The cottage was absolutely perfect, very well kitted out, very cosy and well located. The owner was very excited that we had chosen their cottage to stay in for our 'pre marriage honeymoon' and even sent us a lovely wedding card ! Very thoughtful. Would thoroughly recommend this property.

A lovely little cottage in a beautiful location. Only a short distance from Carlisle, The Lakes and Scotland, but idylically quiet. Local pub also very friendly and provided good quality food. Cottage had all the amenities needed. The only down side it was very cold upon arrival and this + the stone floor was not suitable for our crawling baby. The owner was very helpful, polite and flexible (as w had to keep changing dates). Would definatley recommend. Had a peaceful and relaxing break...Thank you !
