Holiday home 1a Glynsk House is a detached cottage in the Galway countryside, four miles from the village of Carna. The house has two ground floor double rooms, one with an en-suite bathroom, and upstairs are two twin rooms. There are two shower rooms, one on each floor. Downstairs there is also a kitchen, and a spacious sitting room with dining area and open fire. Outside is ample off road parking, and a rear garden area with furniture. 1a Glynsk House makes a great base for enjoying the Connemara National Park, the Galway coastline, the pretty villages and towns or the lush green countryside of this beautiful region.
Area The small village of Carna lies on the shores of Galway Bay, overlooking Galway Harbour, in the scenic region of Connemara. Lying off the coast of Carna is St. MacDara's Church and Island, a notable holy place in west Ireland, and a site of pilgrimage and mass in July. The sailing crafts, the 'Galway Hookers' were made in Carna, as well as a small boat called the Currach, and the area is well known for the skilled boat makers who crafted them. There are still some working examples of the Galway Hooker in Kinvara's quaint harbour. There is great fishing in the area with Lough Mask and Lough Corrib close by, while Connemara National Park, home to the famous Connemara Pony and Kylemore Abbey are both within easy reach, providing great days out for all the family.
Region Towering cliffs stand next to vast stretches of golden sand, whilst vast mountain ranges cradle cool, low-lying lakes. The Galway region epitomises the term ‘great outdoors'; with fantastic walking and cycling and exhilarating water sports.

Glynsk cottages is a lovely location and would have no hesitation in returning to it, but we would rent another cottage as we were disappointed with the standard of hygiene and the facilities within 1A house..
Great house, lovely comfy sofas for relaxing.. Everything we needed. Lots of space, beautiful location. Other houses for younger kids to make friends.
Only negative is at least an hour of travel to get to anywhere and my teens were demented as no shop or anything to walk to. It is beside a lovely pub/restaurant with a gift shop, would be great if it turned part of it to a little corner shop for essentials and treats as 20 mins drive to buy milk or a bar of choc.
The house is a great location for touring the Connemara area.. All appliances in good condition making it a cosy house to rent.
This beautiful cottage met our expectations in every way.. What is not always clear from descriptions is what the immediate area will be like and whether there is a view from the windows; so, to let everyone know this cottage has wonderful views and the area is as beautiful as any in Conemara - we were smitten; all the people we met also lovely. Our only difficulties were getting the fire to light!
The lighting of the sitting/dining room as well as of the kitchen is really poor, especially when one likes reading.. The equipment of the kitchen (e.g. cooking pots and pans) is limited.
