Garreg Ddu is a beautiful, well equipped cottage. The only reason I have not rated it as 5 is due to the parking. The cottage is in a narrow cul-de-sac with on street parking and a small lay-by. The spaces fill up very quickly. Caroline the owner was very helpful and friendly during our stay and recommend local places to visit and eat. She also provided a lovely welcome pack which included milk, cake and Prosecco! The local shops, cafes and take aways are less than 5 minutes walk from the cottage but evening dining is very limited. I think this is due to Covid as the local pub/hotel was closed the whole time we were there.

The cottage is just as the photos look, immaculate. Beautifully renovated with everything you could need whilst staying, and more. A lot of care and attention has been put in to both the cottage and the welcome. Fresh flowers, food essentials pack, information leaflets and fire all ready for lighting. Very clean, lovely wooden furniture, fluffy towels and powerful rain shower. We worried about parking, but found a space on our return every evening, so not a problem at all. Town has suffered with lockdown, pubs and restaurants closed, but plenty of take aways and a shop within walking distance. We didn't go for the town but for the central location to explore North Wales and chose the cottage as it looked stunning. Caroline, the host, was friendly, approachable and couldn't have done more to make sure we were ok, settled in and didn't need anything. In sumnary, Ffestiniog was a little disappointing, train not running, affects of covid etc. However cottage was exact opposite, a wonderful place to stay and relax and we had a brilliant week, with no complaints.

A fabulous little cottage, the perfect place for us to get away for a week! Caroline was a wonderful host who met us on arrival to talk us through everything and gave us a lot of insightful information on the area and its many attractions and restaurants. She was always on hand to answer any questions if we needed it. The cottage had everything we needed to give us a luxury home away from home with an amazing log burning fire to warm us up after a day of exploring Snowdonia. We would highly recommend as we will definitely be coming back in the future!
