The cottage was homely and very clean, good base for exploring the local area.. Plenty of information leaflets at the cottage to assist with finding walking routes. The only downside was a lack of WiFi which would enhance further as it would enable visitors to use the internet to research eateries, pubs for walks and more exploring.

The cottage was comfortable and cosy, with everything we needed provided.. It's very close to the town, and it was a pleasure to sit outside watching the world go by in the evening sun with a drink before dinner. The cottage is high up, with a steep climb up uneven steps and cobbles, but we are both able and fit so this was not a problem at all. The front door is behind a gate off the footpath, which gave it a lovely secure, secret garden feel.

The location was excellent, within walking distance of all amenities, bars and restaurants.. The property is very well laid out and immaculately clean. It is ideal for any couple who enjoy good food, excellent views from the terrace as well as exploring superb country side. We will certainly return for a second trip.

This is my first experience using a rental company for a holiday cottage.. Using Sykes was seamless. When I had a question, it was immediately answered which was appreciated. 12 Rattle Row exceeded my expectations. It was comfortable and clean. The owner was very responsive. There were several unexpected extras...the ginger cookies, candy and fruit that were available. There were many pamphlets as to where eat and places to go. The shower was easy to operate (unlike some of the places I have stayed in the UK). The bed was comfortable. I cannot believe how well I slept. The kitchen, which I did not really use for cooking, was fully equipped with a nice stove, refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, dishes, pots and pans, etc. The view from the terrace and the property windows was breathtaking. The property is about a 2 minute walk from the town center. The only issues some may have is that walking to the property could be an issue if you are not capable of climbing hills or the cobblestones. It is possible to drive as I understand it but parking is limited. There are three floors and the stairs are narrow. The bathroom is on the third floor. I did not find it to be a problem but it helps to be aware of this before renting. If I return to Holmfirth next year this property will be on my list of places to stay. It is a lovely property and fabulous location.

Beautifully appointed cottage.. Visitors are warned of steep pathways to the cottage. Holmfirth on the whole is hilly.

This cottage was a wonderful place to take a break from life.. Really well fitted out with everything needed to feel at home when away including towels, flowers, milk and cleaning stuff. The starter packs for the log burners were perfect and very much appreciated. The cottage is decorated and furnished to a high standard and the terrace is a wonderful suntrap of an evening to unwind and watch the sun go down. This is the best cottage I have stayed at and I would highly recommend it.

Unfortunately we did not have time to leave a note in the owners visitors book and I would like to apologise for that.. We were extremely happy with the accommodation and all the added 'extras' really impressed us. The info left for guests was most impressive. Unfortunately on the morning we were due to leave, my husband took some things up to the car where he met some workmen who told him the road was about to be closed off for repairs within the next 10 minutes. We then had a mad rush to collect our belongings and leave otherwise, we would have been stuck there for the rest of the day. Hence the reason we didn't have the time to leave a note for the owner. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to friends and family.

The description of the cottage was not even as good as the cottage itself was! !! But I guess that is better than the other way round.... We had a lovely holiday and we'll certainly book again.

This is a great cottage, centrally located.. There are lot of steps so you need to be resonably fit. Located just off back lane didn't take long to find. The locals are great esp fella next door and we even got involved in a pub quiz teaming up with locals. Shops are lovely and tea rooms. Visited the local vineyard and had afternoon tea there, it was fantastic wine and views.
